「大西洋月刊」(The Atlantic)6日报导，消息人士透露，川普总统日前要求幕僚把美国独立宣言(Declaration of Independence)搬到白宫椭圆形办公室，助理则对川普命令感到惶恐，因为移动这份历史文档的开销与程序都相当复杂。

美国1776年7月4日宣布脱离大英帝国而独立，独立宣言写在皮革纸上，目前陈列于国家档案馆大楼(National Archives Building)密封的厚重玻璃柜里。

报导指出，经过一番基于常识的劝说，川普后来打消念头，幕僚松一口气。不过，独立宣言手抄副本未来还是可能改放白宫。

白宫发言人张振熙(Steven Cheung)指出，川普坚定认为，纪念美国历史的重要档案文档应该与公众分享，公开展示。
